“Lyricism from Nineteenth Century to Contemporary Music”
The most distinguishing feature of nineteenth century music, operatic as well as instrumental , was lyricism, which always translated inthepresence of a pervasive romantic sense of emotion. At the beginning of the twentieth century in many countries, composers started to seek a new musical dimension, expressed in new musical for msstrictly connected to different kinds of arts – painting, literature , ballet and even film. However, in Italy and France the tradition of singing and the innersense of lyricism continued to be a fundamental element of musical literature.
We will discover this inner lyric soul still present in some works by S.Rachmaninov , F.Poulenc and N.Rota, where, in addition to the exploration of innovative harmonic relations and the restoration of ancient music material from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, we will find out the pleasure of pure singing still seems to be the leading feature of the musical score.
